Now Introducing! EdTech Team Mexico

January 5, 2017

EdTechTeam Mexico is growing! We are beyond excited to present our new team members who seek to improve education in the country (and beyond) through the use of innovative technology in the classroom.

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Patty Zamora has been a Digital Literacy Coach and a teacher for the last 22 years in The American School Foundation, Mexico City. She ensures that digital literacy is carefully and appropriately integrated into all content areas. The majority of her time is spent working with teachers and students to achieve integration between digital literacy and content objectives as well as providing training and support to create a global and collaborative approach to learning. She is a Google Certified Trainer, a Google Certified Innovator, Apple Distinguished Educator, and Moodle Course Creator Certified. Patty also co-created and delivered courses for the Certificate for Educational Technologies offered by Buffalo State’s Office for International Graduate Programs for Educators.

Paty García has witnessed the impact that technology has had in this field, and understands the importance of developing in students, the 21st century skills needed to succeed in our global and changing world. She worked at Humanitree School as a coordinator for Math and Science for Primary school and as a Science teacher for Secondary school. Prior to this, Paty worked at the American School Foundation in Mexico City as a Science and Math teacher for Middle School and served other leadership roles for 10 years. Her teaching career started working as a teacher for Middle School at Princeton Day School in Princeton, New Jersey. Paty has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Chemistry, a Master’s in Education, a Master’s in Technology and Innovation in Education, a Certificate in Educational Technologies from Buffalo SUNY University, a Coaching Certificate and she is a Google Certified Innovator.

Gabriel Muñoz is passionate about education and technology. He has provided training to Education Professionals in Mexico and various countries in Latin America. His main interest is to promote the empowerment of teachers to take ownership of technology, and develop technological skills that can help them implement technology in their educational activities and personal life. His education is in Educational Psychology, and holds certifications as a Google for Education Certified Innovator and Trainer, and Moodle and Linux specialist. He has implemented and coordinated several online education platforms, including an undergraduate degree from the National Pedagogical University (UPN), where he also taught technology to academic staff.

When we started our adventure in Mexico, we knew that schools had a pressing need for support in professional development and educational progress. However, it was hard to anticipate such a demand for innovation in the classroom that we would need to add three full-time people so quickly. We are incredibly appreciative at the amount of experience and passion Paty García, Patty Zamora and Gabriel Muñoz bring to the team, and look forward to an exciting 2017!

The Latin America Team supports the Google for Education Certified Innovator Program in December at Google Mexico!
