What do you know now that you wish you had known when you started teaching?
Anyone who’s not a beginning teacher can surely point to several items that would make for great items of advice for those starting their careers. Thinking along those lines, I came up with fifty items that I think could help any teacher get better. These fifty I divide into five areas: rapport with students, assignments and assessments, delivery, collegiality and professionalism, and logistics.
And while this is all helpful for the beginner, not one of us is so good at what we do that there’s no room for improvement. All of us want to do well – to help students overcome challenges, to explore cool ideas with colleagues, and to inspire and be inspired.
Making Your Teaching Something Special is designed to help you add techniques that make your work more effectively for your learners, and more engaging both for them and for you. Each area finishes with a set of questions for those doing professional book studies, along with the invitation to share your thoughts and questions.
Read, explore, and share the effort to try #SomethingSpecialEdu!
