EdTechTeam Mexico Partners with Khan Academy

A partir de junio del 2017, EdTechTeam México comenzó a trabajar en conjunto con Khan Academy para capacitar a maestros del Conalep y DGETI en el uso de la herramienta e impulsar a su vez la plataforma entre los maestros y alumnos de estas instituciones. Khan Academy es una organización sin fines de lucro cuya misión es proporcionar una educación gratuita de clase mundial para cualquier persona en cualquier lugar. Es un recurso de aprendizaje personalizado que permite a los alumnos aprender a su propio ritmo, dentro y fuera del salón de clases.

Recientemente dado el potencial que representa México, esta organización decidió reforzar su presencia en el país y dar un servicio más cercano a profesores y alumnos. Con este objetivo, Khan Academy recurrió a EdTechTeam México para diseñar en conjunto un plan de capacitación para ambas instituciones que incluyó cursos presenciales, videos y webinars. El Conalep es un organismo público cuya misión es formar profesionales técnicos y bachilleres mediante un modelo basado en competencias y cuenta aproximadamente con 300,000 alumnos en toda la República Mexicana. Por otro lado, la DGETI es la institución de educación media superior tecnológica más grande del país con una infraestructura física de 1,366 Centros Educativos a Nivel Nacional y aproximadamente 500,000 alumnos distribuidos en sus diferentes planteles.

Nuestra capacitación para DGETI comenzó con un curso presencial de dos días en Pátzcuaro, Michoacán con la presencia de aproximadamente 150 maestros. Posteriormente tuvimos una capacitación presencial para 100 maestros del Conalep, la cual fue transmitida a nivel nacional para alcanzar a un mayor número de docentes. Las capacitaciones presenciales, fueron seguidas por varios webinars y videos para además preparar a los maestros para participar en el reto Learn Storm México que se llevará a cabo por primera vez en México durante el mes de octubre y consiste en un reto divertido y motivante para estudiantes que ganan reconocimiento por su esfuerzo y por el uso de una hora de Khan Academy por semana durante las cuatro semanas del mes de octubre. ¡En EdTechTeam México nos sentimos orgullosos de formar parte de este gran proyecto!

Beginning in June 2017, EdTechTeam Mexico began working together with Khan Academy to train Conalep and DGETI teachers in the use of the tool and to promote the platform among the teachers and students of these institutions. Khan Academy is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a free, world-class education to anyone anywhere. It is a personalized learning resource that allows students to learn at their own pace, in and out of the classroom.

Recently given the potential that Mexico represents, this organization decided to reinforce its presence in the country and give a closer service to teachers and students. To this end, Khan Academy turned to EdTechTeam Mexico to jointly design a training plan for both institutions that included face-to-face courses, videos, and webinars. Conalep is a public body whose mission is to train technical and high school graduates through a competency-based model and has approximately 300,000 students throughout the Mexican Republic. On the other hand, DGETI is the largest technological upper secondary education institution in the country with a physical infrastructure of 1,366 National Education Centers and approximately 500,000 students distributed in its different schools.

Our training for DGETI began with a two-day face-to-face course in Patzcuaro, Michoacán with the presence of approximately 150 teachers. Subsequently, we had face-to-face training for 100 Conalep teachers, which was transmitted nationwide to reach a greater number of teachers. The face-to-face training was followed by several webinars and videos to prepare teachers to participate in the Learn Storm Mexico challenge that will be held for the first time in Mexico during October and is a fun and motivating challenge for students who gain recognition for their effort and the use of one hour of Khan Academy per week during the four weeks of October. ¡At EdTechTeam Mexico we are proud to be part of this great project!
