Back to School Update to AudioPlayer for Slides
Since its initial release in June at ISTE, AudioPlayer for Slides has been met with fanfare and installed by thousands of teachers around the world. Today, EdTechTeam is releasing an updated new version with some significant new features that we would like to share with you:
- Voice Recording: you can record your own voice right inside the Google Slide presentation. This is wonderful for narrating slides, recording your own thoughts during editing, and more. Voice recordings are saved to your Google Drive, and accessible only by you.
- Background Audio: this heavily requested feature lets you add a song or other audio file to play underneath a number of slides. For example, if you created a Google Slide presentation with 20 slides and have a song that you would like to play for all 20 (without interruption), simply add it as background audio.
- Multiple Slides: this allows you to have the same one file play on multiple slides. For example, if you had a slide that says “hello”, you could have that same file play each time you change slides. Teachers are using this feature for adding cool sound effects as transitions.
We also fixed a ton of bugs and made AudioPlayer even more stable.
I can’t wait for you to try it out, and let us know on our Facebook page how you like it!

I’m really uncomfortable with the permissions this extension requires. Viewing, uploading, and deleting any file in my Google Drive? For an education setting, this is a big no-go for student privacy reasons. I really like the concept of this extension but until you restrict the permissions, it’s a no for me.

I understand your concern.
The extension views the files only to give them to you in the menu from which you choose an audio file to play on a slide.
We need to upload to your drive if you record or upload a new audio file through our extension.
We don’t delete anything but that’s a permission rolled into the others.
To be clear, we at EdTechTeam cannot see your files. Only you can.
